The Municipality of Bluewater is committed to ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of rural roads during winter months. To support this, all rural mailboxes must meet Canada Post standards and be installed according to specific guidelines to allow snowplows to pass safely. The Municipality will not be responsible for damage to mailboxes that do not comply with these standards. In cases where compliant mailboxes are damaged by snow removal equipment, the Municipality will reimburse up to $100 for repairs. Mailboxes hit by snow coming off the plow will not be replaced; the owner is required to repair such damage.
