Camps

Our camps offer children fun-filled activities throughout the year. Through exciting and active adventures, new friends, and caring staff, children will create wonderful memories that last a lifetime!

Camps serve children ages 4 to 12. Campers must be between the ages of 4 and 12 by the start of their camp. Campers must be fully toilet trained to attend camp programs.

Our staff to camper ratio is 1:8. All camp staff are first aid and CPR certified and must complete a successful criminal reference check. Staff training includes, but is not limited to, program planning, inclusion, behavioural management and High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development.

About our camps

Cost per regular week (5 days): $138
Cost per short-week (4 days): $110.40

Please note that for a variety of reasons, the Municipality of Bluewater is no longer able to offer single-day registration for day camp.

A program subsidy is available through Huron County Child Services. For details, contact 519-482-8505 or visit the County's children's services page.

Campers will need to bring with them:

  • Labelled refillable water bottle
  • Four nut free snacks and a cold lunch per day
  • Spare change of clothes
  • Bathing suit and towel
  • Appropriate outerwear for the season (hat, jacket, shoes etc.)
  • Running shoes for indoor programs and proper outdoor footwear for weather conditions
  • Sunscreen
  • A great attitude!

Please do not send electronics, toys or any valuables. The Municipality of Bluewater is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items.

Locations for day camps are:

  • Hensall Arena, 157 Oxford St. W., Hensall ON N0M 1X0
  • Bayfield Arena, 4 Jane St., Bayfield ON N0M 1G0

Camp programming runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Drop-off is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Pick-up is from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is considered supervised unstructured free time for campers.

Parents or guardians that are on the child’s approved pick-up list much sign the child in and provide I.D to sign the child out of camp.

If your child is sick, needs to leave early or will be absent from camp,  parents/guardians must notify the Day Camp Coordinator or Recreation Program Leaders.

We want your child to have an excellent time at camp. Please share with us any allergies, medical conditions or behaviours when registering for camp.

If your child requires medication while at camp, please fill out the Medical Information Sheet that will be provided to you prior to the start of camp.

Registering and payments

Registration for March Break Day Camp 2025 opens Friday, January 24th at 6 a.m.

Registration for Summer Day Camp 2025 opens:

  • Online Monday, March 17th at 6 a.m.
  • In-person at the municipal office Monday, March 17th at 8:30 a.m.
  • By phone, call 519-236-4351 Monday, March 17th at 8:30 a.m.

Registration for all programs is done through ActiveNet, our online registration system.

Create an account

  1. Visit https://anc.ca.apm.activecommunities.com/bluewater
  2. Select “Create an Account” in the top right corner.
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Fill in all the required information for your account (and family members if applicable). Please list someone other than yourself as an emergency contact. Double check that all members on your account have the correct birth date.
  5. Activate your account by following the instructions sent in the activation email.
  6. Log in to ActiveNet.

How to register for day camp

  1. Select the Activities tab.
  2. Choose the category – Summer Day Camp or March Break Camp.
  3. One at a time select the week you want your child to attend camp
  4. OR click on filters and search by location.
  5. Click “Enroll Now” on the program.
  6. Select the Participant or + Add New Family Member.
  7. Fill in the required information, then Add to Cart.
  8. To add another child to that camp, select the Activities Tab and repeat steps 1-7.
  9. To add another week of camp, select the Activities Tab and repeat steps 1-7.

Checking out

Once you are ready to check out, there are two payment options.

Option 1

Payment Plan—Credit card payment will be processed within 5 days after registration. This gives you the option to pay in person within those five days at the municipal office, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (cash, credit, debit, cheque). Payment online will automatically be processed on Day 5 if payment in person is not made.

    1. Check off use payment plan if you would like this option.
    2. Check off that you have read and agree to the Registration and Refund Policy and Camp Waiver. Then sign your name.
    3. Select Check Out to fill in your credit card information.
    4. Select Pay.
    5. You are now registered tentatively until payment is made within 5 days of this registration date.

Option 2

Pay with Credit Card immediately (please note there is a 3.4% processing fee for online payments).

  1. Do not check off use payment plan.
  2. Check off that you have read and agree to the Registration and Refund Policy and Camp Waiver. Then sign your name.
  3. Select Check Out to fill in your credit card information.
  4. Select Pay.
  5. You are now registered for Day Camp.

An administration fee of $25 will be levied to all NSF cheques. Make all cheques payable to the Municipality of Bluewater.

Refunds must be made in writing and submitted to the Administrative Assistant/Designate for Facilities or to the Day Camp Coordinator during business hours.

All refunds are subject to a $10.00 Program Administration Fee.

Refunds will be processed as follows:

  • Full Refund (minus program administration fee): Issued if a cancellation request is received up to and including five (5) business days prior to the activity start date. A full refund (minus Program Administration Fee) will be issued at any time in the event of a medical condition that prevents participation.
  • Partial Refund: A 50 percent (less program administration fee) refund will be provided if a cancellation request is received within four business days or less before the activity start date.
  • No Refund: If a cancellation request is received on or after the camp start date, no refund will be issued.

Other important information

The RZone Policy is an operating procedure that has been adopted by the Municipality of Bluewater to create a code of conduct that applies to all municipal facilities, programs, parks and trails. The RZone procedure enforces a set of expectations around violence, vandalism and inappropriate behaviour for participants and members of the public.

The 'R' in the name and logo stands for respect and responsibility.

  • Respect for yourself
  • Respect for others
  • Responsibility for your actions

The logo will serve as a reminder to staff and the public that the operating procedure is in effect and applies to everyone—participants, visitors, residents and employees.

We welcome monetary sponsorship from local businesses and organizations to purchase program materials (i.e. craft supplies), offer specialized in-house programs and keep registration fees affordable for campers.

In return for each sponsorship, your company will be promoted on the Bluewater website and social media, promotion materials and flyers and the weekly camp newsletter that goes home with families.
