Heat event safety

A heat event is affecting several parts of Ontario, including Bluewater. Stay safe, know the signs of heat related illness. Stay hydrated and seek treatment if needed. 

Symptoms to watch for:

  • Headache
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dizziness or fainting
  • Rapid breathing and heartbeat
  • Extreme thirst
  • Decreased urination with unusually dark yellow urine
  • Changes in behaviour in children (e.g. sleepiness)

There are many places within the Municipality of Bluewater to find relief from the high temperatures.

Splash Pads:

  • Hensall Splash Pad: located at the Hensall playground (next to the Hensall Arena)
  • Bayfield Splash Pad: located in Clan Gregor Square

There are three Public Libraries in Bluewater which are also available during regular operating hours. Please check with your local branch for details.

Please remember:

  • Watch for early signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others.
  • Stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
  • Check on vulnerable neighbours, friends, and family.
  • Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
