Fall leaf collection begins in October

The Municipality of Bluewater will be offering fall leaf collection in urban areas once again this autumn. 

Leaf collection will be offered in Bayfield, Brucefield, Dashwood, Hensall, Kippen, Varna and Zurich from Tuesday, October 14th to Wednesday, November 19th. Leaf collection will occur on a rolling basis during this time period and will not be collected on one specific day.

Lakeshore leaf collection for areas west of Highway 21 will occur Friday, November 7th.

Weather conditions may require changes to the schedule. 

Important notes

  • Bagging requirements: All leaves must be bagged in paper bags (plastic bags are not allowed).
  • Items that are not permitted in bags: Brush, branches, sticks, sod, garbage, and animal waste.
  • Pick-up time: Bagged leaves must be at the curb by 7 a.m.

Lakeshore collection

  • Not collected: Green waste piled in a central location within an association will not be collected.
  • Late waste: Bagged leaves placed out after the scheduled collection date (November 7) will not be picked up.

Alternative Disposal Options

  • Stanley Landfill: Leaves and brush can be taken during regular operating hours free of charge.
  • Green waste depot: Located at the Municipal Shop, 72879 Blind Line, Zurich.
