Council Highlights—October 7

At its Regular Meeting of Council on October 7th, 2024, Council of the Municipality of Bluewater:

  • Directed staff to initiate an application under the Planning Act to apply -h Symbol to vacant properties within the Bayfield Settlement Area where there is no sewer capacity allocation.
  • Declared the 1994 CAT 816 Landfill Compactor as surplus and directed staff to list the vehicle on a third part auction site with a reserve bid of $75,000.
  • Directed staff to apply to the Housing Enabling Core Servicing Stream for the reconstruction of Lorne Ave from Hensall Road to Richmond Street North in the Village of Hensall.
  • Directed staff to apply to the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant to replace the diesel generator at the Zurich Fire Hall and Water System Reservoir building with a natural gas generator.
  • Supports the Municipality’s application to the Community Sport and Recreation Fund—Stream 1: Repair and Rehabilitation for the Hensall Arena retrofit project.
  • Directed staff to apply to the Jays Care Field of Dreams grant for the Varna Ball Diamond Lighting Replacement Project.
  • Provided direction to the Treasurer to leave the $119,892 of the remaining 2023 Operating Surplus in the working funds reserve.
  • Adopted pre-consultation processes and procedures.
  • Adopted a Videotaping and Live Broadcasting Policy.
  • Authorized the Mayor and Clerk to execute the Declaration of Affiliation-Qualified Donee and Agent document to support BFIT’s application to the Sunset Community Foundation to update the Link (painting and wainscotting) and Arena (flooring).
