Council Highlights—March 17

At its Regular Meeting of Council on March 17, 2025, Council of the Municipality of Bluewater:
- Directed the Treasurer to cover the costs of the Bayfield Area Food Bank relocation to the Bayfield Arena, as outlined in their correspondence dated March 14, 2025, to a maximum amount of $3,865.00, and that these costs be funded through the working reserve.
- Approved a CIP application for 1 Main Street North, Bayfield under the Heritage Property Improvement Grant in the amount of $5,000.
- Declared Bayfield Vettefest, Zurich Fair, Bayfield Fair, Zurich Bean Festival, Main Street Art Festival, Bayfield Volksfest, Christmas in Bayfield, Zurich Christmas Parade to be community events and grants them exemptions from the Noise By-law and the Hawkers, Peddlers and Buskers By-law for the year 2025.
- Approved the inclusion of a clause in the site plan control agreement for 27 Zurich Main Street, to defer the payment of development charges until the completion of the new industrial building at this site, or by December 31, 2025.
- Directed staff to develop a Public-Private Partnership (P3) agreement with lease holding organizations to address the unique needs of each group.
- Awarded Tender BW-RDS-02-2025 to supply and deliver one 2025 Articulated Sidewalk Maintenance Machine, Ribbon Blower, Five-Way Blade and Sander/Salter to Work Equipment Limited in the amount of $191,152 excluding HST.
- Awarded BW-RDS-03-2025 being a request for proposal for consulting services for the design of the replacement of bridge structure B62 on Ausable Line to Driven Engineering in the amount of $51,697.50 excluding HST.
- Directed Staff to commence a pilot project for vehicular speed reduction initiatives on Lidderdale Street for the summer 2025 season.
- Repealed By-law 008-1986 regulating taxi cab licensing.
- Appointed David Wagner as CEMC for the Municipality of Bluewater.
