Council Highlights—March 16

At its Regular Meeting of Council on March 16, 2026, Council of the Municipality of Bluewater:

  • Appointed Adrian Kester as Drainage Superintendent for the Municipality of Bluewater.
  • Declared Bayfield Vettefest, Zurich Fair, Bayfield Fair, Zurich Bean Festival, Bayfield Volksfest, Christmas in Bayfield, and Zurich Christmas Parade to be community events, and granted them exemptions from the Noise By-law and the Hawkers, Peddlers and Buskers By-law for the year 2026.
  • Awarded BW-RDS-01-2026 being a request for proposal for a Salt/Sand Storage Structure to Van Pelt Construction in the amount of $459,900 excluding HST and approved an “Amendment to Budget” to increase the capital budget for the New Salt/Sand Storage Structure (RD25-11) to $482,853.03.
  • Directed the Treasurer to fund the shortfall for the New Salt/Sand Structure Project (RD25-11) through the reallocation of remaining funds from the Tuyll/Troy Street Drain Project (RD22-04) coming from the Roads Paving & Construction Reserve.
  • Authorized an amendment to the Active Transportation Fund Agreement. The changes in the funding structure for capital projects include Bayfield Sidewalks (RD22-03); Zurich Sidewalks (RD22-06); Richmond Street Sidewalks (RD24-02) and Dashwood Sidewalks (RD24-04).
  • Entered into a Community Garden License Agreement with Janneke Vorsteveld in trust for Seeds Rooted in Youth at 2 Jane Street, Bayfield.
  • Approved the transfer of balances within the Municipality's cemetery trust fund accounts with ScotiaTrust to the Bank of Montreal.
