Council Highlights—June 16

At its Regular Meeting of Council on June 16, 2025, Council of the Municipality of Bluewater:
- Established a Public Art and Monument Policy.
- Awarded the Bayfield Marina Fuel System Replacement tender, Contract No. 24090 to Claybar Contracting Inc. in the amount of $787,452.03 including HST. Approved an "Amendment to Budget" to increase the capital budget for the Marina Fuel Tank Replacement (FAC24-11) to $738,124.94 and authorized the proceeds from the sale of 6 Municipal Road in the amount of $552,585.67 to be used to fund the budget overage for the Marina Fuel Tank Replacement (FAC24-11).
- Directed the Treasurer to establish a "Bayfield Community Centre Expansion and Renovation Reserve Fund" and to place the funds not needed from the sale of 6 Municipal Road for the Marina Fuel Tank Replacement Project into the "Bayfield Community Centre Expansion Reserve Fund" and should the Marina Fuel Tank Replacement Project come in under tender, place the remaining unused funds into the "Bayfield Community Centre Expansion Reserve Fund" and that the funds within this reserve fund be used for the expansion or renovation of the Bayfield Community Centre.
- Entered into a lease renewal agreement with Bayfield Facilities Initiative Team (BFIT) for the day-to-day operations control of the Bayfield Community Complex.
- Directed staff to apply to the MHIP - Health and Safety Water Stream for the Zurich Sanitary Main Lining Project.
- Directed staff to perform winter maintenance on Campbell Avenue, Saint Joseph from Demers Street to the western limit.
- Approved an amendment to the Enhancement and Protection of Trees Policy.
- Directed Staff to fully remove the weeping willow tree trunk located at the southeast corner of Catherine Street and Bayfield Main Street North and direct Staff to work with representatives of the Little Inn to develop a program for the reuse and distribution of salvaged willow tree materials.
- Supported the relocation and installation of a bus stop shelter and bike rack in Victoria Lane boulevard adjacent to 44 Zurich Main Street in Zurich; the relocation and installation of a bus stop shelter and bike rack in the Municipally owned parkette at 120 King Street North in Hensall; the installation of a new bus stop in Brucefield on Ellen Street South adjacent to the Brucefield Fire hall with the installation of a stand-alone bench and approved the removal of the Cameron Street, Bayfield Bus Stop.
- Adopted the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan for Huron - CSWB Plan Review as required by O. Reg. 414/23.
- Awarded the Tender BW-Fire-01-2025 to Supply and Deliver One 2025 or Newer 1500-Gallon Pumper Tanker with Pump and Roll capabilities to Carl Thibault Emergency Vehicles in the amount $643,208.00 excluding HST.
- Entered into a lease agreement with John Alexander McCrea In Trust for the Bayfield Area Food Bank for the lease of 2 Jane St., Bayfield.
- Delegated authority to the Chief Administrative Officer in relation to OLT Case Number: OLT-25-000386 to retain and appoint Strong Nenniger Law Professional Corporation.
