Council Highlights—July 14

At its Regular Meeting of Council on July 14, 2025, Council of the Municipality of Bluewater:
- Donated 1 hour of non prime ice time at both the Hensall and Zurich arenas to be used during the 2025-2026 season, to Huron Hospice as a Silent Auction Item for the No Place Like Home Dinner and Auction taking place on September 20, 2025.
- Passed a By-law to reduce Development Charges by 45%. This reduction will remain in effect until the 2027 Background Study is reviewed.
- Entered into a contract agreement for three years for by-law enforcement and animal control services with Tenet Security Group.
- Scheduled a Special Council meeting for Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 6:30 pm at the Council Chambers in Varna for a streetlight levy review and reserve and reserve funds workshop.
- Adopted a Municipal Alcohol Policy, Flag Policy and Workplace Health and Safety Policy.
- Approved one permanent full time Community Recreation Coordinator position effective January 1, 2026.
- Directed staff to apply to the Enhancing Access to Space for Everyone (EASE) grant for accessibility upgrades at the Zurich and Hensall arenas.
- Entered into an Agreement with the Minister of Infrastructure supporting the reconstruction of Lorne Avenue, Hensall.
- Appointed Aird & Berlis as the Integrity Commissioner and Closed Meeting Investigator for a term of 4 years.
