ABCA issues watershed conditions statement—Flood outlook/water safety
Forecasted rainfall totals between 25 to 50 mm are expected, starting tonight (Tuesday, March 10, 2026) and continuing through tomorrow across the Ausable Bayfield watershed area.
Water levels across the watershed remain elevated due to snowmelt and rainfall over the past week. Saturated ground could result in faster runoff and further increases in water levels.
Based on the most current weather forecasts, minor flooding in low-lying undeveloped flood plain areas is possible. This may impact some secondary roads that are traditionally flood prone.
Residents are advised to use caution near creeks and rivers and to keep children and pets well away from all waterways. Slippery, snow-covered or unstable streambanks, and fast-moving, cold water can pose serious safety hazards. High flows are expected through the weekend on the larger rivers.
This message will remain in effect until 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2026, unless otherwise updated.
